Little moments: Skimmons drabble

Okay, this is a little Skimmons drabble that I wrote just before I went to bed, it's been a busy day but I couldn't get this little scene out of my head. I'm not used to writing anything this small so I may lengthen it later but It's fine by itself as well. Enjoy! :)

Little Moments

Skye was a strong woman, she was clever, tough, and sometimes even reckless. Jemma knew this going into the relationship, however, what she didn’t know was that underneath that daring exterior, Skye was a broken little girl who just wanted to know that she was loved. What made Jemma come to this conclusion? Well, mostly it was the sides of Skye that she saw more and more during their time together. She saw it in the quiet moments when Jemma would look over and Skye would have her hand over her mouth and her eyes closed, holding back tears that came anyway. It was the few minutes before she went another field mission and she would silently put her head on the scientist’s shoulder and hold her arm just until Ward came back and then she would let go and put on a brave face. But mostly, she saw it in moments like these; In the middle of the night when Skye would sneak hesitantly into Jemma’s little bunk and burying her face in Jem’s neck and then letting the scientist put her arms around her, quietly humming the tune of a love song. Nothing was ever said during these moments but the strength of understanding between them was evident. You see, Jemma Simmons was a shy, mild mannered woman but when she was holding Skye in her arms she felt stronger and braver than she had ever felt her entire life.
