Skimmons prompt

Ugh, so I got this wonderful prompt from my favorite follower on Sunday. She usually gives me a prompt on Sunday night and then I post it on Tumblr for her Monday after school but yesterday, even though I had some ideas about how to go about, I was really tired so I took a nap and when I woke up at nine that night I started working on it. I didn't get it done till 12 but she seemed to like it. So here it is.

“Hey, Jemma!”
Skye ran through the corridor in an attempt to catch up with the scientist, she caught her just in time, just outside of the door. She quickly walked up to the fretting scientist and tapped her on the shoulder since apparently she hadn’t heard here teammate the moment before. Jemma turned around with a twinkle in her eye and smiled at the agent. Suddenly all of the confidence that Skye had mustered up previously was gone and she felt her face flash red.
“Yeah, Skye?”
She took a deep breathe and Jemma looked at her, confused.
“Um.. Yeah.. I just wanted to tell you before you left.. That.. Um..”
Simmons leaned in a little closer to hear her over the roar of the opening door.
“Yeah?”
“Well, I just wanted to say..”
Skye frowned and then continued lackluster
“I just wanted to say, be careful out there tonight.”
Jemma smiled and patted the agent’s arm
“I will, thanks.”
She paused.
“And I’ll see you tonight?”
“Of course! I’ll be here waiting for you.”
Skye’s face was transparent but she gave an excited thumbs up and the scientist fell for it before running off to catch up with Ward and Fitz. Once she was sure that Jemma wasn’t going to look back, Skye’s face fell and she limply shoved her way back to the main area of the bus. She made her way to the viewing room where Coulson and May were sitting quietly, messing with buttons. Skye practically sprawled onto the rolling chair and almost slammed into the opposite wall with a big disappointed sigh. Coulson looked back with a deadpan face, already knowing what was wrong with the young woman.
“No.”
Skye sat up holding her arms in the air.
“But I should be out there with them! What if they get hurt?”
“They are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves and you are still on sick leave.”
Skye glanced bitterly at the purple bruises that covered her arms from the last mission.
“You’ll be more useful to them in here where you can observe. Now-”
Coulson handed her a pair of massive headphones.
“Get to observing.”
Skye grabbed the headphones with a obvious pout, she was trying to keep it cool but honestly with everything building up she was just on edge. All she wanted right now was for Jemma and the guys to come back as soon as possible. She had a lot of things that she needed to tell that Biochemist even though she chickened out before that didn’t mean she was done trying. Skye rolled back and forth in the rolling chair as they listened to the progression of their mission. Everything was going okay and they were almost finished when a loud crack rang through the equipment. Skye, who was off in her own world, jumped violently and cringed as her own healing wounds seared.
“Oh my God, what was that?”
Coulson and May were punching buttons frantically trying to get a visual on the situation while asking for safety conformation from the away team. Even with all of the equipment that they were using, they couldn’t get any information on the attackers. The only transmissions they were getting was from Ward and they were broken up through him trying to get the team back together. There was one more loud crack that caused the home team to pull their headphones off their ears and then everything went black, the cameras, the comms, and audio.
“Jem? Simmons? Ward? Fitz? Anyone!?”
Skye stood up and was now frantically trying to beat the equipment back to working order. Coulson and May looked at each other in a silent understanding before Melinda stood up and headed for the door. Skye tried to followed the older agent but was efficiently stopped when May grabbed her arms and dragged her into the seating area of The Bus and sat her down on the couch.
“I want to come with you!”
May turned around like a scolding parent
“No we don’t need you out there when we don’t even know what’s happening. You’re emotionally compromised and you will stay here. Understand?”
Skye crossed her arms, she felt like a child. A helpless child who couldn’t do anything at all and when May left her sitting on the couch she promptly grabbed a nearby coaster and flung it across the room in a fit. This went on for about an hour of her pacing back and forth between the recreational area and the surveillance room where Coulson was sitting. When nothing would happen again she would usually come through and throw something else at the wall. She wanted to do anything but cry as the panic welled up inside her chest making it hard for her to breathe.
After what seemed like days later the door of The Bus opened and Skye headed to the entrance just hoping that everyone was alive and okay. She looked outside into the pitch darkness but couldn’t hear or see anything until without warning she came face to face with Fitz. He looked exhausted but he barely acknowledged Skye as he practically pushed past her.
“Fitz! What are you doing?”
She kept looking for the rest but they hadn’t showed up, Fitz answered from what sounded like a closet.
“First Aid.”
The blood fell from her face and she rushed down the ramp trying to see what was going on. Ward met her at the bottom and Skye ran over to him, grabbing his arm.
“Where’s Jemma?”
He didn’t say anything he just gestured lightly with his head toward the darkness. She looked out desperately but it wasn’t until they were a couple of feet away that she could see May and Jemma’s faces slowly making their way to the ramp. Skye put a hand over her mouth as the scene became clearer in front of her. May was supporting the scientist who barely looked conscience as they came closer. Skye ran over in a hurry.
“Oh God, how bad is it? What happened?!”
She was aiming the questions at May but Simmons had lifted her head and answered instead.
“Just a few grazes. It’s not that bad.”
“A Few!?”
May shook her head as if telling Skye not to pursue it and continued to make her way with the scientist onto the bus with Skye following closely behind searching over Jemma’s tattered frame. They went straight to the lab where Fitz and Coulson were waiting with a pile of first aid scattered about. Skye went ahead of them and cleared a place on the counter for Jemma and helped gently helped her get to the spot. She wanted to yell and scream and make a big deal out of the fact that Jemma had just nearly died but she knew that would only make things worse so instead she pushed herself onto the table with Jemma and let the scientist lean on her while Fitz tended to her many cuts and bullet grazes. She didn’t know if Jemma was trying to make everyone feel better or if they had already given her some painkillers but she was the calmest of them all. The rest of the team were arguing and throwing around theories but Skye blocked them out and looked down at Simmons who was actually smiling through a split lip. Must be painkillers, Skye thought. Jemma winked and pushed on her a little.
“I told you I’d come back.’
“Next time, try to come back in one piece.”
Fitz was messing with Jemma’s arm and stuck her with a needle, the scientist cringed and Skye nearly smacked the engineer instinctively. Fitz back away a little.
“Easy. It’s just some anti biotic.”
“Sorry. I’m just on edge.”
“Yeah we all are.”
Fitz turned around and gave a thumbs up to Ward who walked over and as softly as he could picked up the little scientist away from Skye.
“Hey, what are you doing!?”
“Just taking her to her bunk. Relax.”
She walked after them all the way to Jemma’s bunk where ward placed her lightly on the small bed. He said something to her and then quietly left. Skye sat down cautiously on the edge of the bunk. Jemma fidgeted trying get comfortable, obviously the wave of painkillers were starting to wear off and her face paled every time she moved.
“Here, Jem, let me help you.”
Skye walked over and gently slid between Jemma and the wall, putting a pillow on her chest underneath the scientist’s head. Jemma leaned back and sighed and looked up at Skye.
“Thank you, Skye.”
She looked down at the scientist’s dirty face and messed up hair, suddenly she was feeling herself get emotional.
“Hey, Jem?”
“Yeah?”
“You know before you left and I told you to take care of yourself?”
“Yeah?”
“Well, what I was actually going to say was--”
“Excuse me, just wanted to drop these off.’
Fitz had walked in with a few damp towels, realizing that he had basically just interrupted something he diverted his eyes but still handed the cool rags to Skye who sighed loudly. He gave her an apologetic look and sneaked out. Skye took the rags and began to dap away the dirt on Jemma’s face.
“What were you going to say?”
“Nothing, never mind.”
“No what was it?”
Skye, brushed the hair away from the scientist’s forehead as she continued to stroke her face with the cool damp towel.
“I was about to say… I was just going to say that.. That I love you, Jemma Simmons.”
A smile crossed Jemma’s face as she heard the words but it was wiped away relatively quickly as a sob escaped from the woman behind her. Skye was still washing the dirt away and stroking her hair with one hand but the other was covering her face and muffling the short strangled cries.
“I was just going to say I love you but I couldn’t! And you went on that mission without knowing how much you mean to me! You could have died and you would have never known that I love you because I was to much of a coward to tell you!
The words came out in a string of broken fragments as Skye spilled everything to the scientist.
“I love you Jemma and I’m sorry!”
Jemma tried to pull herself up but gave up as her bones screamed and instead she used her one less cut up arm to reach behind her and pull the agent’s hand away. She wrapped Skye’s arm around herself and snuggled in the agent’s elbow, it was the closest thing she could come to a hug given the circumstances.
“I love you so much, Skye, you have no idea.”
“What if you had died today?”
“I didn’t.”
Yeah, but--”
“No, I promised you I would come back and I did, didn’t I?”
“Yeah, you did.”
Skye placed her lips on the scientist’s forehead and gently kissed her.
“I thought I lost you today. Please don’t ever do that again, I don’t think I could take it.”
“Deal.”
The two women laid there like that for a long time in silence in the dark just enjoying the safety of the other’s presence and when they were both nearly asleep, Jemma’s soft, sleepy voice interrupted the silence.
“Hey, Skye?”
“Yeah?”
“You’re not going to leave right? After I fall asleep?”
Skye held the scientist tighter.
“I’m not going anywhere, I’ll still be here when you wake up in the morning.’
“You promise?”
“I promise.”

Heat of The Moment: A Skimmons Fanfiction

Yeah, you guys know the drill lol

Skye walked forcefully down the corridor, she pushed her way through the doors and continued on towards the lab. From an outwards appearance she just looked angry, very angry but she wasn’t exactly sure whether what she was feeling was anger, worry, fear or something of a mix. She herself was exhausted from a long mission but right now Fitz’s voice was ringing over and over in her mind and all she wanted to do was to see the scientist for herself. The same stubborn scientist that she would swear was the reason she worked so hard to make it back to this ship. The same scientist who wasn’t there to greet her when she boarded.
Skye knew that Jemma was busy but still she had always been there when Skye came back on, always there with a bright smile and a big hug. Except this time when Skye showed up to a stressed out Fitz who was guzzling a hug cup of coffee and then he told her what was going on.
So here she was now, practically speed walking towards the lab doors with a face that could’ve rivaled May’s angry face in terms of intensity. She shoved the two doors open, probably a little harder than was necessary, and stopped in front of the lab tables. Simmons jumped and slightly moved her head away from the object in front of her until she saw who it was and then she looked up with a wilted smile.
Fitz wasn’t wrong, the scientist looked terrible and Skye nearly cringed at the state of the usually cheery woman. Jemma had obviously lost weight and her lab coat hung off her already small shoulders. There were bags under her eyes making them droop and they looked red from lack of sleep , her normally bright eyes were dark even when she was looking at Skye. Her hair was messed up and oily in appearance, Skye guessed that she hadn’t showered in a while. The scientist’s whole demeanor screamed neglect and too much work.
Skye, who had barged in with a fierce, almost angry attitude, took a step back and her features softened till she practically looked like an abandoned kitten standing a few feet away from Simmons.
“Skye! I didn’t realize you were back! I must have lost track of time.”
Her voice was tired and slow to the point where she almost didn’t sound the same.
“What the hell, Jemma?!”
The scientist looked taken aback
“Excuse me..”
“You look TERRIBLE!”
Jemma’s mouth fell open a little and she dropped the equipment she was using on the table and stepped back, crossing her arms.
“Um, I’m sorry?”
“When was the last time you ate, Jemma?”
She paused but didn’t leave enough time for The scientist to respond.
“You havn’t been taking care of yourself! When’s the last time you even got out of this lab? What the hell, Jemma.”
Skye was now leaning forward never taking her yes off of the wide eyed woman.
“I’ve been working, Skye.”
She spelled the words out in an unusually harsh tone
“I don’t know what Fitz told you but I assure you-”
“Fitz wasn’t lying! I mean, for god’s sake, have you even slept!?”
Jemma rolled her eyes in complete denial.
“Well, I’m sorry, okay, we’ve had an 0-8-4 and I haven’t had much time for anything else.”
They had both been easing their way back farther away from each other, Jemma kept her arms crossed while Skye couldn’t keep her arms from making gestures with every word she said.
“Well, surely you could get away from it long enough to eat or I don’t know, sleep!?”
“This artifact has huge scientific potential, okay, I can put myself on hold for a little while until I’ve studied it properly, I’m not nearly as important as this device, okay.”
“That’s not true!”
Jemma walked forward a little, obviously on the defense.
“Honestly, Skye I don’t know why you’re acting like this?!”
She knew after she said it that it was the worst possible thing for her to say especially when it came out so cruelly and so unlike herself. Skye’s arms fell to her side, her eyes were wide and hurt. She walked over to the edge of the table, never taking her eyes from the scientist.
“Because you’re important to me! Okay? You’re so freaking important to me!”
Skye’s voice broke and he lifted her hand to her mouth trying to maintain her composure while Jemma stared at her slightly hesitant. Skye continued, her voice lower and more controlled.
“And then I leave and you just stop taking care of yourself? Because of some dumb artifact?”
Jemma moved to protest but Skye cut her off a little more harshly than she had intended.
“SOME DUMB ARTIFACT.”
Skye took a deep breath and then continued slowly.
“You’re more important than that thing, okay? Your health is more important than some object, I don’t care how many advances it will make or whatever. It’s just not.”
Jemma nodded slowly, more in an attempt to calm the other woman down than anything.
“Thank you, Skye. But I’m a grown woman and my work is very important to me. I’m fine and this is really not worth your time or worry.”
“YES IT IS!”
The calm phase had ended and with that yell, they were both slightly leaning forward with fists clenched staring at each other.”
“WHY, SKYE? WHY ARE YOU MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL OUT OF THIS?!”
And before she knew what was happening, the words fell from Skye’s mouth.
“BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!”
Skye practically gasped after she said it and threw a hand over her mouth, taking a few steps back. Jemma’s face softened and she had tears in her eyes, she took a step forward with a hand reached out slightly towards the agent.
“Skye I-”
“Don’t, just don’t. I’m sorry.”
Skye didn’t look back as she promptly left the lab with a hand still trying to keep the tears from coming. She walked away and Jemma slowly backed into one of the corners and wrapped her arms around herself, looking down at the floor. Those words that she had desperately wanted to hear from Skye but she had always imagined hearing them in a fit of passion, not in anger and certainly not with the hurt coming through Skye’s eyes.
A couple hours later and Jemma still hadn’t moved very far and she was still deep in thought but the artifact was now in the back of her mind. The lab doors opened slowly and she looked over to see Skye almost cautiously making her way into the room and never looking at the scientist in the eye.
“I-I made you some food, you know, if you wanna eat or whatever.”
Jemma smiled and slowly made her way around the tables to where Skye was standing, she felt terrible but she also felt excited and all she wanted to do was to hold Skye tightly and never have to let her go anymore. The agent turned around and made to leave when Jemma caught up with her and tugged on her arm, making her turn around.
“Look Jem, I’m sorry it was just in the heat of the moment”
The scientist’s face fell
“So, did you not mean it?”
Skye was still avoiding all eye contact and swaying back and forth uncomfortably.
“I didn’t say that.”
Jemma smiled, making even her extremely tired face brighten up, and took Skye’s hand in hers.
“Well, then that’s all that matters.’
“Wait, you mean-”
Before she could finish, Simmons was already dragging her down the hall by her hand, leading her to where the couch and laid out food was with more enthusiasm than should’ve been possible with as little sleep as the scientist had. She took the full plate of various food that Skye had made for her, while still holding on the other woman’s hand and sitting down on the couch. Skye sat next to her, still leaning away and looking at Simmons with confused, wide, kitten-like eyes.
“You mean, you’re not mad?”
Jemma smiled and then leaned over, saying softly
“Well, I kind of love you too.”
Her face was lit up despite her messy hair and sunken cheeks.
“And I’m really sorry.”
“It’s okay, I shouldn’t have gotten that angry.”
Jemma pulled her back on the couch and leaned on her shoulder.
“I’m glad you did, actually. Chip?”
She offered the plate up and Skye took a bit of food, a blissful smile invading her face. They stayed like that until the food was finished and by the end of the night both women were fast asleep, Skye sitting back and Jemma with her head laying on the agent’s lap.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Yay! My dad's birthday was yesterday and I feel bad that I couldn't get him anything so I just wanted to make sure he knows that I was thinking about him on his birthday even though I was at school. Now, he said specifically not to acknowledge the day but I'm going to do it anyway. (I never listened to you before so why would I now :P) I know it's a day late but a person's birthday I think is generally contained within the span of an entire week so I'm still in the green.

The reason that I want to wish my dad a happy birthday (Well several reasons) is because I genuinely love my dad and I'm not saying that just because he's my dad. If he were a horrible person I would probably stab him and then disown him, not even kidding, I have no tolerance for crappy parents. But lucky for him, he's not, he is a wonderful person and parent and I would just like to take a few words to appreciate that because there aren't many like him anymore. I know that I can be a difficult child but he still deals with all of my crap so instead of making a lot of paragraphs over the reasons why he is the best dad in the world I'm just going to make a list of all the reasons.

So here are 43 reasons (His age) why my dad is the greatest dad in the world!

  1. I have the funniest dad in the world
  2. He's very intelligent
  3. He shuts up when I tell him to stop cussing

  16. He has the best taste in movies
  17. He worries
  18. He is great at listening to me rant about fictional gay ships
  19. He tries to understand those fictional gay ships
  20. He likes Scarlett Johannson as well
  21. Our Kitchen conversations
  22. Snowfights!
  23. He lets me make fun of him

  27. He has always told me I was beautiful
  28. He understands almost all pop culture references
  29. He used to let me see movies that I was too young to see
  30. He helped me to understand how important Quentin Tarantino is
  31. He'll swim with me
  32. He works very hard
  33. High fives!
  34. He makes the best french toast
  35. He taught me everything I know about driving
  36. He doesn't get offended easily

  40. Mixed drinks!
  41. He does a GREAT impression of Donald Duck
  42. He has always been there for me
  43. He is just such a gentle and caring guy to my mom and I
So there you have it! Obviously I have the greatest dad in the whole wide world and I love him more than he could ever know because 43 is a lot of reasons to love somebody.

Anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!!! I love you and Miss you!!

This is me singing you a Happy Birthday...

Not as Bad as I Thought

Mmkay, I actually wasn't going to post this because I really didn't think that it was very good but I ended up getting 30 notes in one night and two new followers the next day so I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. This is my second prompt from one of my favorite followers. Enjoy.

This shouldn’t be this hard! May thought angrily as she leaned back frustrated in the camera room watching the left screen where the rest of the team were crowding around the table, grabbing the obviously planted candy from it’s red box. The guys weren’t supposed to be back this soon and once again ruined her little plan to get the girls to finally admit that they were in love with each other. It was going really good too and May smirked as they both went to the chocolates on the table, they were talking and smiling like usual but as they nibbled on the sweets they moved closer together. They were shoulder and shoulder with shy smiles and May thought that all her work was finally coming together when the women looked up and back apart as Fitz walked through them to the table, closely followed by Ward and Coulson. Skye and Jemma continued to smile at each other from across the gap that the men had put in between them and May fumed, this had been the closest that she had come to getting them together.
Normally matchmaking wasn’t May’s style or even something that she concerned herself over but at this point in her life something she WAS concerned with was the happiness of her younger teammates. Something inside of her warmed when she saw Skye protecting Jemma or when Jemma worried over Skye’s health and she knew that they were exactly what they both needed. So she started trying to speed the process along and it became more like a hobby that she did whenever they weren’t busy but she would have never guessed that it would be this hard. They were already close friends, they already spent a lot of time together and it was obvious how they glowed in each other’s presence; Why didn’t they just kiss already! Granted, May did love a challenge, even if it was annoying as hell but it seemed like every time May would give them a little push something or someone would ruin her whole plan. It didn’t even bother her that much at first but after so many unsuccessful attempts she was getting seriously impatient for them to get together. She had worked to hard for them to just be friends.
May’s first attempt at playing matchmaker to Skye and Jemma was a classic and she hadn’t really put much thought into it since she really didn’t think that it would take that much before they would be making out. She had been sitting in the lab with the women as they chatted pleasantly when Jemma went into the storage closet to get something for the project that she was working on. May saw Skye steal a glance at the scientist’s ass as she walked away and then she remembered how she had wanted to get them together. It wasn’t long before the opportunity presented itself and Jemma called from inside the little room for some help and Skye immediately hopped up joined her in the perfectly sized room. Without thinking or hesitation May got up from her seat walked to the control panel, punched a few buttons and then walked away before anyone even noticed her. The door slid shut and locked automatically due to Melinda’s commands, trapping the women inside quite efficiently. May quietly left and stood like a statue just outside the door and listened as they thumped loudly from the other side and called half heartedly for someone to open the door for them. She would have felt a little guilty if they hadn’t stopped after a while and the room went quiet. She smiled privately at how incredibly easy this agenda was until she heard another door open and the sound of Fitz’s Scottish accent calling for Simmons. May whipped around to see the engineer looking around hopelessly for his partner, of course when they heard Fitz in the room, the thumping began again and Leo ran to the closet. The agent and the scientist practically spilled out, laughing with red faces. Fitz stood back and looked at them with a confused eyebrow raised, Jemma giggled.
“The door malfunctioned while we were in there,”
“Wasn’t Agent May in here?”
Skye jumped in on the conversation
“Yeah, but I think she left after I went in there to help Jem, she’s probably up front driving.”
May stood on the other side of the door with an annoyed scowl on her face.
The second time, May just put them on a mission together despite Ward’s complaints, she just crossed her arms and looked over at him, he gave in pretty quickly. They were doing surveillance from the van while the rest of the team went to their own perspective positions. Nothing was really expected to happen that day, the guy wasn’t expected to show his face anytime soon making for a very boring mission. May kept a little private feed from a camera in the back of the van just in case it worked and occasionally throughout the mission she would look at the feed from her phone and check in on the girls. Every time she looked in they would either be laughing about something or having some sort of serious conversation, there didn’t seem to be anything in between. May checked in one last time, completely confident that they would finally get together on this mission when she looked at the video and Skye was laughing about something and leaning on Jemma’s shoulder. That is until Ward’s voice came over the comms.
“Suspect is moving. Move in.”
May rolled her eyes as the van that the women were in drove forward with the rest of the team, normally she would have let somebody else have the satisfaction of apprehending the scumbag that they were after but she was irritated so ditching all of S.H.E.I.L.D’s technology she grabbed a rock and launched it at the guy’s head, he fell instantly unconscious and May detected a glimmer of fear in Coulson’s eyes as he looked over at her.
The rest of the times weren’t really that specific and it just became a jumble of little attempts on May’s part to trick the girls into admitting they loved each other in some way or another. If it wasn’t something like the chocolates, it was something similar like messing up the schedule a little bit so that they ended up together or like the Time May put a tarantula in Skye’s bed so she ran to Jemma’s bed and yet still nothing had happened between them. And May was sure of that, with her spending so much time in the camera room and her just being perceptive she would have known if there was a relationship going on within her own team. Coulson realized what was going on pretty quickly, especially after the whole spider thing and he even talked to her about completely in awe over how weird this was for the agent.
“Why do you want them to be together so bad?”
May rolled her eyes.
“ Because they obviously want to be together and I’m sick of all the unresolved sexual tension going on. It’s distracting.”
Coulson studied Melinda for a few minutes, his arms were crossed and he looked like he was trying to figure out a difficult riddle.
“Yeah, but it’s probably going to happen eventually, you know, in a few years or so. So why push it so hard?”
May knew that he wasn’t going away until he had a truthful answer.
“It’s because it’s very difficult to find someone to care about and hold onto in this business and I just don’t want the girls making the same mistakes that I did when I was their age.”
Coulson nodded solemnly.
“Fair enough.”
Finally, Melinda just went for it one day when her and Skye were standing in the lab area quietly. Jemma walked in, a sweet smile on her goggled covered face, and a handful of flasks. Without thinking, May began to walk towards the door, she lightly stuck her foot out as the scientist passed. Jemma gasped and began to fell forward, just as May assumed however, Skye caught her halfway, a few of the flasks fell to the ground and Jemma’s glasses landed lopsided on her face.
“Oops.”
May said dryly in a hushed tone before she slid out just outside the door, observing the interaction. Skye smiled, still holding the scientist close and halfway to the ground.
“You Okay?”
Jemma looked up into Skye’s eyes and her face went immediately red, not moving from the agent’s arms.
“Y-yeah”
She said hesitantly
“Sorry”
Skye laughed.
“What are you apologizing for? You fell, silly.”
That’s when May saw it coming and she grinned from the other side of the door.
“No, I- I’m sorry for this.”
The scientist leaned up and kissed Skye, letting go of the rest of the equipment in her arms and putting them around the agent’s waist. Skye didn’t even hesitate to kiss back, slowly pushing Jem over to the nearest wall with one hand on her face. She pulled back for a second, never completely leaving the scientist’s lips.
“Do not apologize for that, Jem.”
Melinda looked away and leaned on the wall with a pleased grin on her face, her work here was done. Well, almost anyway. Like clockwork she heard the footsteps coming through the corridor as Ward and Fitz made there way to the lab. Without missing a beat she pulled the long tin sword out of it’s handle and put it across the entrance, the men stopped and looked at her confused.
“Just go back.”
Fitz moved a hand to protest.
“But-”
“Keep moving.”
They backed away and made their way down the corridor, glancing nervously at the agent behind them. May smirked and then put the sword back in it’s sheath, brimming with satisfaction she quietly left.

Bedside: A Skimmons Fanfiction

“Hey baby.”
Skye walked quietly into the hospital room where Jemma was sitting with her head in her hands next to an unconscious and badly battered Leo Fitz. The scientist, who also looked worse for wear, looked up as Skye entered. Her eyes were red and swollen and her cheeks were damp and speckled with red blotches. Skye went over and stood next to Jemma who then leaned her head onto Skye’s hip.
“Still not awake?”
Instead of answering the scientist simply shook her head as another bout of tears escaped her eyes.
“He’s going to be fine, baby.”
At this statement Jem bent over as another wave of sobs overtook her composure.
“I feel like this is all my fault!”
The words were forced through the tears and her hands as she covered her face. Skye immediately dropped down to her level and put one arm around Jemma’s shoulder while the other reached out for Jem’s clenched hands, pulling them gently away from her face and near her heart.
“Don’t say things like that, sweetie, you know that’s not true.”
Jemma leaned over still holding desperately to Skye’s hand and laid her head onto the agent’s chest.
“But I feel like it is.”
Skye rocked and shushed Jemma lightly and they went on like this for who knows how ling, gently rocking in the darkened hospital room next to Fitz’s bed with the repetitive beep of the heart monitor sounding off in the back ground.
“None of this was your fault, everyone knows that, especially Fitz.”
Jemma remained silent as she continued to lean on Skye’s chest, her head lightly moving with every breathe and word her girlfriend took so Skye just continued.
“Fitz is going to be fine, baby, he is one tough… um… what is his title again?”
Jemma smiled for the first time since Skye had arrived.
“Weapons and technology expert and engineer.”
“Well, he is one tough ‘weapons and technology expert and engineer’. He’s the strongest one I know. “
“He’s the only weapons and technology expert and engineer you know.”
“Well, I’m sure that if I did know any more ‘weapons and technology experts and engineers’ he would still be the most bad-ass.”
Jemma still had the faintest hint of a smile on her face when Skye looked down and she was determined to keep that adorable smile there.
“I don’t want you beating yourself up about this, because, you see, when Fitz recovers, and he will, I’m going to take you on a shore leave to the beach.”
Skye continued saying the words through the light kisses that she was trailing up and down Jemma’s neck.
“And. I. Am. Going. To help. You. Relieve. All. Of this built up tension.”
She said, hovering her lips just below Jemma’s ear. Jem smiled, looking over at her girlfriend.
“Are you sure you’re qualified for such a difficult task?”
Skye let go of her hands and then pulled both her arms tightly around the scientist, their faces just a couple of inches apart.
“What are you talking about? I’m a professional reliever… Of tension?”
For the first time in a while Jemma giggled and Skye grinned, she had been trying so hard to get that beautiful gleam back into her girlfriend’s eye’s. Skye leaned over and planted a kiss directly onto Jemma’s hot lips, savoring the heat and the taste as Jemma kissed back. Skye then pulled away just a little ways to look into Jemma’s bloodshot eyes and gently wiped the wet hair and tears from the side of her face.
“None of this is your fault, Jem. In fact, you’re basically the reason that he’s still alive. You’re a hero Jem and don’t you forget it.”
“Yes Ma’am.”
They leaned in for another kiss but broke it off as they jumped at the sound of a bed spring, they both looked up wide eyed at the bed. They looked up to see Fitz, dazedly looking at them with his un-swollen eye and a big mischievous grin on his face. Then, before either of them to make a move, he said in a slow, drug sodden, Scottish voice.
“Jeez, get a room you two.”
